Today, we farewell Mrs Karyn Ellis who has worked at Tamaki Primary for the past fifteen years. We honour and celebrate the time she has spent with us and wish her only the very best for her future. Thank you. Mrs Ellis.
This term we have been studying Energy. As part of our end of term product, we had to produce an information pamphlet to take home to our whanau and a group movie encouraging others to think about how they are using energy. Here is Group One's finished movie product. Enjoy!
Enjoy your week with your friends and teachers. It is now near the end of the year and we encourage all students to bring back any library books or reading books that belong to our school.
Reflect and think about what you have achieved throughout the year with your learning and be prepared to share your thinking with our T.P.S Media Team who are in the process of putting together our last T.P.S News video for the year.

Yesterday on 21st November Mt.
Tongoriro erupted in the clear blue sky. All that the people could see was a
big ash cloud in the sky. The eruption lasted for five minutes. There was a
group of school kids from an Intermediate school. One child cried out “Look”
and everybody turned to see this huge cloud of black smoke. They were very
scared. The smoke went up to about 3 kilometers in the sky so air flights were
cancelled for low flying planes because the smoke will wreck the rotors on the
plane. The people are warned not to go close to the mountain because it might
erupt again. This shows us that we do we do not know enough about volcanic
WALT read tongue twisters out loud with expression.
We have been reading a very funny tongue twister this week about a baby sitter that tries to make fritter with bitter butter. She fails so buys some sweeter batter and tries again! We have recorded ourselves reading a few versus for you to watch. Enjoy!
In term two we were learning how to make movies that influence our world. We learnt a lot about the movie making process. Room 8 also got the opportunity to ask some real movie makers about their experiences and get some tips to take our movies to the next level. Jayden created this presentation sharing movie magic tips.We celebrated our Movie Magic term with our very own Tamaki Primary Academy Awards. Our class movie, 30 Things, will be played at The Manaiakalani Film Festival today. We wanted our movie to help children find fun activities to do after school. We chose this message because we wanted to help kids stay out of trouble. We made our movie in a fun way so that kids our age can understand it. Most of the advertisements for staying out of trouble are aimed at teenagers or adults. We also wanted the kids to learn this message at a young age.
Room 3 has made a movie about honesty. It will be played at The Manaiakalani Film Festival today. Honesty means telling the truth whether you get into trouble or not. Honesty is the best policy. We are very excited to see our movie on the Extreme Screen at Sylvia Park. Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards.
Room 4 thought it would be awesome to think about what we might like to be when we grow up. When we grow up there are lots of things we could do and be. We had lots of fun making our movie, dressing up in the different costumes and learning the dances.
We learnt that it is important to think about what you might want to be when you grow up and there are lots of choices. I was very interested to find out more about Martin Luther King. He was a man who was responsible for his actions.
In Term 2 we were learning a lot about movie magic, and how movies can influence our world. We created many movies. We started by brainstorming key messages we could include in our movies. We also made a movie that explains how to plant kumara. It was really fun to do. We created this movie to inspire people to learn how to grow their own kumara.
In week 3 Room 7 planted kumara in our school kai garden. We would like to say a special thank you to Koro for helping us. Press play to watch how we planted kumara. This clip was put together by Willy and Danisha.
