Film Festival '14

Schools in the Manaiakalani Cluster
were in the 7th Annual
Manaiakalani Film Festival
This year, the 7th Annual Manaiakalani Film Festival was held at Hoyts Cinemas in Sylvia Park, on what is the biggest movie screen in the world.

Schools from all around the Manaiakalani Cluster showcased films made from their students, with the help of technology and movie techniques.

We, as Tamaki Primary, showcased our films too, along with the other amazing yet short films!

To see our school movies made by our students, click below to watch them:

Tamaki Primary School

- We're So Fancy (Room 8)
- Along the Shore (Room 8)

- Turtle Tragedy (Room 4)
- Keep the Ocean Clean (Room 10)
- Taniwha (Room 1)
- Epic Rap Battle - Tagata o le Moana (Room 7)
- The Sea Turtle (Room 3)
- Nature Tastes Good! (Room 5)

But as said, we weren't the only school! Take a look at some of the other films from the other schools by clicking here. Be sure to post a comment on some of them!

Digging more into the students now, some were new to the Manaiakalani way of learning, some of them Year 8's, so, this Manaiakalani Film Festival would be their first film festival, and possibly their last, that is, if they go on to another college that is not in the Manaiakalani Cluster.

That's all for now, stay on the Tamaki Way!

Finders Keepers by Room 7

Sometimes you lose stuff and gain stuff but at the end of the day its is important to take care of your belongings or else it will be the finders keepers game.

You Are Special by Room 5

Room 5’s favourite book is ‘You Are Special’ by Max Lucado. He wrote this book to help us remember that no matter what our talents are, or how we look, we are all special to someone. Here is our version of this book!

Friendship By Room 10

A little while ago friendship and honesty needed to be promoted but how do we do this ? The students came up with a solution... Help is on the way!

Animals At The Zoo By Room 4

Walking by the zoo you often wonder what makes these creatures what they are.The year two students went to the zoo trip and were inspired by the mysterious personality of these animals. So they decided to come up with questions to ask them. They came up with an original rhythm to tie together with the questions.

We Like Reading by Room 2

Room 2 is a class of New Entrant and year 1 Students. There are lots of new things you have to learn when you start school, and one of them is learning how to read. Learning to read takes involvement from many people. In this movie students in Room 2 share a song they originally wrote about some of the people they read with through the week. Reading is important and it is fun!

The Manaiakalani Film Festival by Mavis

In term two we were learning how to make movies that influence our world. We learnt a lot about the movie making process

Room 8 also got the opportunity to ask some real movie makers about their experiences and get some tips to take our movies to the next level. Jayden created this presentation sharing movie magic tips. We celebrated our Movie Magic term with our very own Tamaki Primary Academy Awards.

Our class movie, 30 Things, will be played at The Manaiakalani Film Festival today. We wanted our movie to help children find fun activities to do after school. We chose this message because we wanted to help kids stay out of trouble.

We made our movie in a fun way so that kids our age can understand it. Most of the advertisements for staying out of trouble are aimed at teenagers or adults. We also wanted the kids to learn this message at a young age.

The Manaiakalani Film Festival by Losana

Room 3 has made a movie about honesty. It will be played at The Manaiakalani Film Festival today. Honesty means telling the truth whether you get into trouble or not. Honesty is the best policy.

We are very excited to see our movie on the Extreme Screen at Sylvia Park. Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards.

The Manaiakalani Film Festival by Michael

Room 4 thought it would be awesome to think about what we might like to be when we grow up.  When we grow up there are lots of things we could do and be. We had lots of fun making our movie, dressing up in the different costumes and learning the dances.

We learnt that it is important to think about what you might want to be when you grow up and there are lots of choices. I was very interested to find out more about Martin Luther King. He was a man who was responsible for his actions.

Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards.

School is Cool Reported by Cypress

In Term 2 we were learning a lot about movie magic, and how movies can influence our world. We created many movies. We started by brainstorming key messages we could include in our movies.

We also made a movie that explains how to plant kumara. It was really fun to do. We created this movie to inspire people to learn how to grow their own kumara.

Our movie for The Manaiakalani Film Festival is called 'School Is Cool'. We made it to share all of the cool learning and fun that we have at school.

Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards. We created a PMI about Movie Magic and shared what we liked, what was challenging and interesting.
