On Thursday of Week 5 our Year 8 students had the amazing opportunity to participate in a 'transition day' at Tamaki College. They got to experience first hand, what going to college feels like. Students were put into mixed classes with Year 8 students from others schools around our community and moved around as real college students would, from English, Maths and Food Technology, to Business Studies, Social Studies and Science. It was a great day and we look forward to returning in Term 3 for the next transition day!

Kapa Haka 2014
Yesterday was the first practice for our Kapa Haka 'Performance Group.' We are so lucky this year to have Whaea Salena and Matua Wiremu helping out with the group! Yesterday we started learning the Lord's Prayer Waiata. The group were so quick to pick it up and sounded beautiful. We can't wait for next week's practice!

About Me 2014
I am Miss Kyla. I am the teacher in Room 8. My class is a class of Year 7 and 8 students. One thing I am really looking forward to is the Year 7 and 8 Camp. Keep reading this blog to see the exciting things that Room 8 is learning about. Please leave us feedback and feedforward comments to encourage us to keep sharing our work and to take our learning to the next level.
Have a great 2014!

Finders Keepers by Room 7
Sometimes you lose stuff and gain stuff but at the end of the day its is important to take care of your belongings or else it will be the finders keepers game.
You Are Special by Room 5
Room 5’s favourite book is ‘You Are Special’ by Max Lucado. He wrote this book to help us remember that no matter what our talents are, or how we look, we are all special to someone. Here is our version of this book!
Friendship By Room 10
A little while ago friendship and honesty needed to be promoted but how do we do this ? The students came up with a solution... Help is on the way!
